    Newly Elected President Pays Tribute at National Martyrs’ Memorial

    Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid homage to the heroic martyrs of the Great War of Liberation by laying wreaths at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar.

    He laid wreaths at the memorial on Saturday (August 22) around 10:30 AM. A smart contingent of the Army, Navy, and Air Force presented a guard of honour to the President. Simultaneously, a solemn tune was played on the bugle.

    After paying his respects, President Mirza Fakhrul signed the visitor’s book kept at the memorial premises.

    Earlier, on Thursday (August 20), BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected President by the vote of the Members of Parliament. He was the BNP-nominated candidate in the presidential election.

    After being elected President, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir officially took oath at Bangabhaban on Friday (August 21).
