India, Pakistan, China, the United Kingdom, France, and Switzerland have congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as the 23rd President of Bangladesh. In separate congratulatory messages, these countries wished success for Bangladesh’s new President and expressed their expectation to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Indian President Droupadi Murmu, in a congratulatory message, extended greetings to Mirza Fakhrul and expressed her interest in working with him. In a message published on the verified Facebook page of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, she stated, “Heartfelt congratulations to Mirza Fakhrul on assuming the responsibility as the President of Bangladesh.” She also expressed hope that his long political career and leadership experience would play a successful role in serving the people of Bangladesh.
Droupadi Murmu added, “India and Bangladesh share a unique relationship based on a common history of sacrifice, close cultural ties, and friendship. In recent times, cooperation between the two countries has expanded further in various sectors including energy, technology, communication, youth, health, and education.” She also expressed her expectation to work with Mirza Fakhrul to further strengthen the partnership between the two neighboring countries.
Mirza Fakhrul Invited to Visit Pakistan
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated Bangladesh’s new President. Simultaneously, he invited Mirza Fakhrul to visit Pakistan with the aim of further strengthening bilateral relations.
A press release from the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka stated that in his congratulatory message, Zardari expressed hope that under President Mirza Fakhrul’s leadership, Bangladesh would advance on the path of development and progress, achieving further success for the welfare of its people.
The Pakistani President said that Bangladesh and Pakistan share close relations based on a common history and religious and cultural ties. Welcoming recent positive developments in the relationship between the two countries, he expressed his expectation to further increase cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
Zardari expressed his interest in working with Mirza Fakhrul to deepen relations between the two countries and enhance people-to-people contact and cooperation. He also invited the Bangladeshi President to visit Pakistan at a convenient time.
Expectations to Further Strengthen Partnership with China
China also extended warm congratulations to Mirza Fakhrul. In a message published on the social media of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, he was congratulated on his election as the President of Bangladesh.
The message stated that China always attaches great importance to its relationship with Bangladesh. China is ready to work closely with the Bangladeshi government to build a more prosperous partnership for both countries in the new era. It was also expressed that this would bring greater benefits to the people of both nations.

The British High Commission in Bangladesh also congratulated Mirza Fakhrul on his election as President. In a message, they stated that the UK is keen to work with President Mirza Fakhrul and the Government of Bangladesh to further strengthen the long-standing and close partnership between the two countries.
The French Embassy also congratulated the new President. The message paid tribute to Mirza Fakhrul’s long-standing contributions as a veteran politician in Bangladesh’s democratic journey. Concurrently, as a close partner of Bangladesh, France pledged to further deepen and strengthen the long-standing friendship and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Furthermore, the Embassy of Switzerland also congratulated Mirza Fakhrul. As a long-standing partner, the country expressed its interest in continuing to work towards strengthening bilateral relations with Bangladesh.
