The government has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and damage caused by the devastating floods and landslides in Nepal. It has also been announced that Bangladesh is fully prepared to provide all necessary assistance to Nepal in rescue and relief operations during the current situation.
This information was conveyed in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (August 26).
The statement said that the people of Bangladesh are saddened and shocked by the deaths and devastation caused by the sudden floods and landslides in Nepal. Bangladesh is closely monitoring the situation. Hundreds of people are missing, many of whom are feared dead. Tourists are also among the missing.
The Government and people of Bangladesh, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, express solidarity with the Government and friendly people of Nepal during this difficult time.
The statement conveyed deep condolences to those who lost their lives. It also wished for the swift recovery of the missing and prompt medical treatment and recovery for the injured.
It was further stated that Bangladesh is ready to provide all possible assistance to Nepal in its relief and rescue operations.
The death toll from sudden floods and landslides in Nepal’s Tibet border region has risen to 98. The country’s police reported that on Wednesday (August 26), hundreds of people are missing in addition to the fatalities from these devastating floods. A large number of foreign tourists are also among the missing.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board, 403 people are missing in the country, including 341 foreign nationals. Among the missing are citizens from various countries, including India, the US, and Britain.
