    Nation’s Strength Lies in People’s Economic Empowerment: Prime Minister

    Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that a nation becomes strong when its people’s economic capability is ensured. No state can be strong by keeping its common people in poverty or by silencing them. The Prime Minister also commented that the government’s goal is to lead the country to a strong economic and social position.

    He said that alongside political rights, ensuring people’s economic capability is crucial. To this end, the government will provide all necessary policy support to encourage domestic entrepreneurs in investment and job creation.

    The Prime Minister made these remarks on Tuesday (August 11) at a contract signing ceremony for leasing three closed state-owned jute mills to two private companies, held at the Cabinet Division’s conference room in the Secretariat. The Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary, Hasan Shiplu, confirmed this.

    Promising to stand by the country’s genuine entrepreneurs, the Prime Minister said that the government would provide them with necessary cooperation. Supporting entrepreneurs would not only create employment and ensure livelihoods for people but also improve the overall economic situation.

    The head of government stated, “We aim to build a country where everyone is better off than they are currently. This is our primary goal and objective.”

    Emphasizing domestic investment alongside foreign investment, the Prime Minister said that foreign investment is certainly welcome, and the government desires it. However, the country’s own investors and entrepreneurs must also be encouraged. The government will provide all necessary policy support for their businesses and investments.

    Highlighting that the core objective of the government’s policy is to create opportunities for people from all walks of life, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that the government is working to build a beautiful and strong nation with everyone’s cooperation.

    The Prime Minister thanked the two business groups that took responsibility for the three mills. He expressed hope that these companies would succeed with their new investments and contribute to the national economy through job creation.

    Also speaking at the event were Commerce, Industry, and Textiles & Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, State Minister for Textiles & Jute Shariful Alam, Secretary of Textiles & Jute Sharof Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman of PRAN-RFL Group Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, and Managing Director of Hamco Group ATM Mostafa.

    Senior officials from BJMC and the leased institutions were also present at the event.
