    Devastating Fire at Hotel Near Kolkata’s New Market Claims 9 Bangladeshi Lives

    Nine Bangladeshi nationals have died in a devastating hotel fire in Kolkata, with several others sustaining injuries.

    The blaze erupted at ‘Shikha Inn’, a residential hotel, around 1:45 AM on Tuesday night. Most of the hotel guests were asleep when the incident occurred.

    Upon receiving the report, police and fire service personnel swiftly arrived at the scene and commenced rescue operations. Six injured individuals were rescued and subsequently transported to a local hospital.

    Initial investigations suggest that the fire was caused by a short circuit. It is believed that the fatalities and injuries resulted primarily from suffocation due to dense smoke filling various rooms of the hotel.

    Fire Service DG Anuj Sharma visited the site on Wednesday morning. Efforts are currently underway to ascertain the precise cause of the fire and gather comprehensive details regarding the casualties.
